The next party congress of Alliance 90/The Greens is only at the beginning of December. But the two chairmen, Brantner and Banaszak, have already announced their renewed candidacy for a dual leadership. The Green leaders Franziska Brantner and Felix Banaszak want to remain at the head of the party. Separate from each other, but at the same time, both have announced that at the party congress of 4

until 6 December for a second term. Banaszak said in a message to the party base that he is running again "to set up our party with all of you for the next federal election". Brantner wrote that she was again running for co-chairmanship with Banaszak.

“Together, we can be the party that people trust to move this country forward." Previously, the Süddeutsche Zeitung had reported. Recent successes in Baden-Württemberg and Saxony-Anhalt Brantner and Banaszak have been led by the Greens since November 2024. Shortly before, the party had to relinquish government responsibility at the federal level with the end of the traffic light coalition. This year, the Greens achieved success, especially in the southwest and in Saxony-Anhalt: The state elections in Baden-Württemberg were won by the Greens with 30.2 percent, just ahead of the CDU, and Cem Özdemir became Prime Minister.

In Saxony-Anhalt, the party was able to increase from 5.9 to 8.9 percent, and in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, the party managed to re-enter the state parliament. In the election to the House of Representatives in Berlin, however, the Greens lost more than four percentage points. In the latest ARD Germany trend, the Greens reach 15 percent nationwide. According to ARD correspondent Oliver Neuroth, a re-election of the two is not certain, but an alternatively staffed double top is also not discernible.
